February

For a short month, the kids have been up to a lot of stuff this month!

LAUREN
1. Words with Friends...she loves to watch me play words with friends on my phone (usually when I am feeding Drew), and she is always excited when I am winning.  She can usually pick out a few short words for me to play, too.

2. Family Feud...she likes to play family feud on the iPad with Brad, and she has come up with a few answers while we play.

3.Barbies with movies...we always have movie night on Friday night, and for a few weeks in a row, we watched "Barbie Charm School," and the girls went up and brought down Barbies to represent all the characters in the movie.

4. Her build-a-bear...She went to her friend Julia's birthday party at build-a-bear the end of January, and ever since then, one of her new favorite buddies is the bear she made, Annabelle.  She even takes her clothes off at night and uses the bed post as a place to hang the clothes.

5. Debby Ryan/Jessie...somehow she found this new show on the Disney  channel called Jessie, which start Debby Ryan, so at bedtime, the girls play Jessie and I have to call Lauren Debby Ryan and Alison is Sophia.  But I told them they can't watch it because we watched one episode and they said stupid 4 times in the first 5 minutes!

6. Library card...since she is 5, she now gets her very own library card!  I was so proud because when she got it, she told the librarian her name, age, phone number, address and birthday with no help!!

7. Pierced ears...we were at the mall on Saturday to get pictures taken and Lauren asked if she could get her ears pierced.  We have been talking about doing it for a while, so we just decided to do it.  She picked out Hello Kitty earrings, and she was very brave!  She almost cried, but they she got a huge smile on her face.  She woke us up on Sunday morning and reminded us to put the cleaner on her ears.  She went to a birthday party yesterday and lost an earring already, so we had to rush to the mall to get another pair to make sure the holes didn't close, and we got there just as they were pulling down the gate to close,  and the girls working were so helpful with her!  She looks like such a big girl with her ears pierced and she was so proud to show all her friends at school and at church.

8. Drawing pictures for Miss Julie...she loves to draw pictures for her teacher on mornings before school.

9. Letter cards...at school, they have a letter of the week and each week on Fridays, they write the letter on the back of little cards with words that start with the letter of the week.  Lauren loves to go through and sort out all the cards by letter.  She is getting really great at writing all of her letters!

ALISON
1. Dressing herself...she is getting pretty good at dressing herself.  She can put on pants (although sometimes, she gets both legs in the same leg hole), and socks and shoes.  Soon she will be putting on shirts and dresses too.  She does always pick out her dress to wear everyday, which is helpful!  But I have to make sure one of her 5 favorite dresses is clean at all times!

2. VBS kids..she still loves to listen to the VBS kids CDS in the car.  I just love hearing her little voice singing all the songs, and she gets so excited when she hears the ones they play at church.

3. Knock knock jokes...she has started to tell knock knock jokes, but she just says "knock, knock" and you say "who's there?"  And she says "bunny" and you say "bunny who" and then she says "knock, knock."  So she is getting it, but not totally yet!

4. Strawberry shortcake...she really likes to watch and play with strawberry shortcake, and she especially loves custard the cat and pupcake the dog.

5. Peeling the crayons...she is always peeling all the paper off the crayons, but the good thing is that most of the time she picks up the paper and puts it in the trash.  But I think we now have more crayons without paper than with paper.

6. Eskimo kiss=basketball kiss...when Blair was here for Christmas, she taught Alison about eskimo kisses and now she calls them basketball kiss.

7. She is always telling me she's going to "put this up where you can't reach it."

8. When I ask her a question that she doesn't know the answer to instead of saying "no," she says "Oh."

9. She is potty trained!!!  We did the three day potty training two weekends ago, and she is pretty much potty trained!  The first two hours were the hardest because I think she went through about 8 pairs of underwear, but after that, she pretty much got it.  We have still had a few accidents, but she has had no problems being out.  And she even went to Sunday school yesterday instead of going in the nursery.

10.  The other day, she was sitting at the dining room table and she put her legs indian style and she said "I made my lap!"  It's so funny the way kids perceive things.

11. Songs and artists...she can hear a song on the radio, and she knows a lot of the song titles and the names of the people who sing the songs.  It reminds me so much of Lauren at this age!

12. Purple dress...she loves, loves, loves this purple dress.  So much that she wears it to bed sometimes.  Some days, it is her princess dress, other days it is her getting married dress.  She does look beautiful in it, even though it is a little long and a little beat up since I have had to wash it a couple times!

DREW
1. Lights...he loves to look at the lights, which calms him down a lot of the time,

2. Chewing on his hands...he has his hands in his mouth a lot, and every once in a while, he will get his thumb in there, although the doesn't use it to soothe himself really.  But his hands are getting chapped.

3. Nicknames....his sisters have a couple of nicknames for him "Little Tickles" and "Peanut Butter and Smelly."

4. Facing out..his favorite way to be carried is facing out with his back against my stomach.  He doesn't want to miss anything!

5. Pacifier...he has started to take the pacifier, and we are a little ambivalent about it.  It's good because he uses it to soothe himself to sleep, but it's tough to always have to know where the pacifier is at all times!

6. Bouncy seat...his favorite place to sit is still the bouncy seat.  He loves to sit and kick, listen to the music and watch the lights.

7. Balls...he has already started to love to play with balls, and Brad is really excited about that!
