So, Lauren got an "Elf on the Shelf" for her birthday this year. In case you haven't heard of it, it's an elf that watches over the kids in the house every day in December, and each night he reports back to Santa in the North Pole about how the kids acted that day. Each morning, the kids have to find where is has moved overnight. Lauren absolutely loves looking for "Lucky" every morning. It's usually the first thing she says when she wakes up "I wonder where Lucky is today!"
The other day, Alison spotted him first and she just started giggling, and then everytime that day we said something about Lucky, she would look over to the spot where he was and start giggling again. Then the next day, we said "Where's Lucky?" And she immediately looked at the spot where he had been and she was confused about why he wasn't there, but once we found him, she just started giggling again. It's so cute!!
Lucky was in the playroom today, and Lauren walked in there a couple of times and just said "Hi Lucky! How are you?" So funny.
Hopefully it will help improve the behavior since we have a special connection to Santa.
We had a great time decorating the tree on Sunday night. Lauren was a great helper with finding good places on the tree to hang the ornaments, and she was great about trying to put the breakable ones where Ali can't reach them. Alison was very interested in what was going on as well, but she was having a great time playing with the boxes and all the tissue paper that the ornaments were wrapped in. And everytime she saw a round ornament, she would say "Ball!" And then she found this silver bell that she was obsessed with, and she would barely even let go of it when it was bedtime. And she still says "Ball!" every morning when she sees the tree for the first time. And she also likes to point to all the Elmo ornaments that we have from two years ago in Lauren's obsessed with Elmo phase. I love looking at all the ornaments and remembering what happened the year that we got them. And now our house is all decorated and ready for Christmas!
