October, Part Two

So, blogger wouldn't post the second half of my October post....too many photos I guess!

But the last week of October was pretty packed!

We went to Chicago for the second half of fall break to see Brad's sister and her family, and Nana & Papa.  We also had family photos taken.

We arrived mid-afternoon on Friday, and the girls just started playing immediately!

The Carlsons got a new dog, Pixie, about 2 months ago and Drew was all about the dog.  He kept saying "Where doggie go?"  And they were chasing each other around,  it was hysterical!  Alison on the other hand, was afraid of this 10 pound dog, and enlisted Nana as her protector from the dog.

The girls were busy all afternoon with one of the neighbor girls scripting a play for us.  It was called "Two Queens and a Princess."  (a very appropriate name, I think.)  They had costumes and everything. Which also meant they had costume changes, which they referred to as "Blackout."  They would turn the lights and go in the closet, using the mirror as the closet door.  We were all laughing the whole time!  At the end, they had pictures and autographs with the stars.  I was having flashbacks of all the shows I directed with my cousins!

The Wednesday before Halloween, they had trunk or treat at church.  The kids had a great time dressing up and seeing their friends and getting candy of course!  Drew, did not put on a costume yet again, but he wore his pumpkin shirt.

Halloween was very cold, rainy and windy.  Alison had her party at school.  They had a great time making their spider oreos and tootsie pop ghosts and playing with the pumpkin insides.  We did not trick or treat on Halloween because of the weather.....

...instead we trick or treated on November 1, which was a beautiful night!  And Drew finally wore a costume, hoorah!!!  Nana stayed home and handed out candy while Papa, Brad, the kids and I went around the neighborhood.

The girls, especially Alison got totally traumatized by a dog at the very first house, so every subsequent house we went to, Alison would not walk to the front door until she knew for sure there was no dog.  Drew, on the other hand, was more excited to see the dogs than get candy...almost!  Drew and Alison didn't last quite as long as Lauren, but she had a great time handing out candy at our house.  And we had soooooo many trick or treaters!  So glad I got some extra candy 50% off!
