Spring Break

Hard to believe that Spring Break was over a month ago, but I need to make sure I don’t forget all the fun memories we made!

We left on Friday and took both the girls out of school early, but we should have left earlier because the traffic was HORRIBLE!  It took us almost twice as long as it should have, and Brad almost missed the entire Michigan game, and he would have if the game had not gone into OT.  He got to see them pull out the OT victory, thank goodness!!

We arrived in Florida early evening on Saturday and the girls immediately went swimming.  Lauren did awesome, and Alison was so proud of herself because she was “swimming” with her “needles” (actually 2 noodles).

Sunday was Easter, and we were awakened by Lauren coming in our room and saying “The easter bunny came!”  They were all happy to search all our Pat’s house for Easter eggs.  We went to Brunch at the Polo grille and it was like they knew we had three small kids because they put us in our own private room!  The food was great, and the kids were contained!!

Monday, Brad and I went outlet shopping and found a few good deals.  The kids did crafts and went swimming of course.  Nana and Lauren worked on making food for a restaurant for  her Americal Girl doll.  They both had a great time doing it!

Tuesday, we headed up to Sanibel to go to the beach and it was perfect!!  It was a perfect beach day and the kids had a really great time.  Drew absolutely loved playing in the sand.  My favorite picture is this one, where the girls are laying all buried in the sand, and Drew had  to lay down and do the same thing as his sisters!  Hysterical!!!

Wednesday morning, Brad, the girls and I headed to Orlando to go to Disney for two days!  We got to the park around 9:30 and had the best time!  We saw Mary Poppins almost as soon as we walked in the park, then we saw Pooh and Tigger, Minnie and Daisy and then the princesses.  Alison was about to jump out of her skin to see Rapunzel!  Rapunzel was so sweet to the girls and they were jumping and spinning and Alison was just in awe!!  We watched a couple of parades and then we headed back to the hotel to get a rest since we got up so early.  Everyone but me slept and then we got some dinner and headed back to the park.

We saw Ariel and then rode the tea cups which the girls thought was the best ride ever!!!  It had started to rain, so we got 4 ponchos of course (I intended to get some at the dollar store, but forgot!).  Then we ducked into Mickey’s Philharmagic 3D show, which was so cool!!!  They had so many cool effects, like water being spilled on you and a champagne cork popping in your face.  And the girls were giggling so much when all the things were dancing in front of them.  It was great!

Then we went to see the electrical parade, which I can remember seeing when I was at Disney forever ago.  And then the fireworks show which was AMAZING!!!  On our way out of the park, we snuck in to see Mickey because the wait was only 5 minutes.  And the girls still talk about how silly Mickey was.

We got back to the room pretty late, and then got an early start the next morning.  We got to the park around 8, and had about an hour before our princess breakfast at Cinderella's castle.  We rode Peter Pan and it's a small world, which was Lauren's favorite ride.  She said she loved learning about new places!

Then it was time for the princess breakfast!  We got to see Cinderella as soon as we walked in.  The princesses who were at the breakfast were Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine and Aurora.  The girls were fascinated that Jasmine was showing her belly!  I was impressed because they had egg free waffles and french toast sticks for Alison to eat, and she enjoyed therm!

After breakfast, we walked over to see Rapunzel's tower, which was totally the highlight for Alison.  She was posing and SO excited to see Rapunzel's tower!  It looks just like the one from the movie, and there is a garland of lanterns all around, and it is decorated with the sunburst.  Very cool!

Then we rode Ariel's Under the Sea adventure, which told the whole story of the movie.  Alison was really scared of Ursula (I think mostly because Lauren had been saying how afraid she was), but she cheered up when we got to a place where there was a black light and all of our sneakers were glowing.  They both thought that was pretty cool.

Then wer rode the teacups again (the only ride that we rode more than once!)  And then Dumbo's ride.  After that, it started raining pretty hard so we saw a couple of shows that were ok, and then we headed back to get the car.

All in all, it was a magical trip and the girls love looking through their autograph book and Alison still talks about how much fun she had at Walt Disney World.

Next time, we will take Drew.  Poor guy was a little out of sorts with everyone being gone and being in a place different than home.  He was sure happy to see us when we got back!
