The new house and what the kids have been up to lately

So, all three kids are asleep (thank you, Aunt Anne and the Louisville Zoo!), so I thought I would try and get a little updated on what has been going on here in Kentucky.  First of all, I can't believe we have already lived here for two months!  And Lauren starts kindergarten in just a month.  We are pretty much settled on the first and second floors, pictures hung and everything.  The basement is coming along, and the garage will take a while, but we are getting there.

We had a couple of minor setbacks with the basement....when we had our carpets cleaned in the basement not too long after we moved in, they found a little mold under the carpet in the room that we are using as the playroom, so we had to have a mold remediation company come in and take out the carpet, and they also had to cut out a little of the drywall and take out some of the trim.  Good news is that they didn't find any moisture and they think it could be from a dog or cat peeing in the same place over and over (the previous owners used that room as a workout room.)  So, we are getting a new playroom, which is good, not planned, but that room needed some work anyways.  We just need to make sure things are ready for the first Michigan game, which is early September, so that's a feasible goal I think!

We have been pretty busy in the two months we have been here.  Here are a few things we have done:
*Lauren did VBS at two different churches
*Tammy, Megan, Ella, Kaitlyn, Clara and Shannon visited for the day
*Tracie & Josh came for an overnight stop on the way to Hilton Head
*Nana & Papa came for a 5 day visit
*Brad & I went to Downs After Dark with the Mauzy's
*Lauren is almost able to swim across the pool on her own
*Alison figured out she can float in the pool with her floatie thing on without holding onto us
*Drew is crawling everywhere, and can pull himself up to his knees
*We hosted the family for July 4th and had our first cookout

The girls are having a great time in their room, and they are finally getting better about going to bed.  It stays light here so late that when we first moved in, they weren't getting to bed until around 10, but we have started a new bedtime routine and most nights they are asleep around 9.  It's going to be an interesting transition once school starts, but I am sure it will all work out.  Their favorite things to do lately are play CeCe and Rocky, play the Wii Fit (Lauren loves to make new Miis), dance, do crafts and play outside.

Lauren is such a big girl!  She loves to read, answer the phone, play music on the computer and play with her brother and sister.  She is always looking out for Drew and trying to make him happy if he gets fussy.  I can't believe she is going to be gone every day in a month!  I am definitely torn about it!

I am trying to work on shapes with Alison and it's like she has a mental block against shapes because I will ask her what a shape is (like a square), and she will say "a trectigon."  The only time she is Alison is when she is sucking her thumb, any other time, she is either CeCe or Roxy or Amanda, but mostly Roxy, especially when she is wearing Lauren's white dress.  She rarely has on her own clothes, although she has to wear her own clothes if we are going somewhere.  And she almost always had on a headband.

Drew is busy, busy, busy!!!  He is still primarily army crawling, but he is FAST.  And he just crawls to whatever he wants and then sits himself up and plays.  He mostly wants to play with whatever the girls are playing with, or paper or a magazine, but he does like to play with balls a lot.  He is starting to feed himself a lot, and he spits A LOT when he is being fed baby food, so I need to figure out what else I can give him that he can feed himself besides puffs and Cheerios.  He also really likes to play with the door stoppers and he loves to sit on the air vent and feel the cool air.

Brad is really liking his job and the new challenges.  They had an outing at Churchill Downs a couple weeks ago, and it was great for me to meet the people he works with as well as their spouses.
