The girls- June 2011

Lauren on her last day of school!

Lauren
Lauren is becoming quite a big girl.  She is quite a performer (she below), and she is always coming up with all sorts of ideas of things to make and games to play.  She is very determined to get what she wants and I think she misses the structure of school a little bit.  But she is going to camp 3 of the next 4 weeks, so that will be good!   She loves to be a mommy to Alison, which is very sweet and I hope she is the same way with her new baby brother in a few months!

1. Coming in our room...Lauren has gotten into the very bad habit of coming into our room almost every night.  She is very sneaky because she gets into the bed on Brad's side and most of the time, he doesn't even realize that she is there!  We have to break her of the habit before the baby comes because I definitely don't want her waking Alison up and having both of them in our room!

2. Swimming...the pool is finally open for the summer and Lauren is really loving swimming!  she loves to go in the water with our neighbor across the street, Emma.  When I am there by myself with the two of them, we have to stay in the baby pool because Alison is not potty-trained, but she has a great time in the baby pool, too.

3. Performing....one of Lauren's favorite things to do is put on a show.  she either sings songs that she knows, or she sings songs that she made up.  She also loves to do it at the pool, one of the lifeguards even commented on how she was performing and was so funny!

4. Fashion show....one day when Emma and Sophie were over here, they decided to help Lauren put on a fashion show.  They helped her get dressed, then did her hair and then they announced "Welcome to Lauren's Fashion show!"  So, now she loves to play fashion show...she and Brad even put on a fashion show the other day.

5. Make-up...she loves to put on make-up!  I bought her a new box to put all of make-up in, and she loves to get it out and glam herself up.

6. Recital...she loves to pretend that she is getting ready to go to the recital, so she will put on pretend make-up and her dance costume and then dance to the music.

7. Counting...she loves to count.  she can count to 100 with a little bit of help.  She is always asking what she has to count to before something happens.

8. The baby...she is very curious about the baby.   She is always asking what the baby is doing, and giving the baby kisses.  Thank goodness she hasn't yet asked how the baby got there or how it's getting out!  And she thinks his middle name should be eyeball.

Alison
Alison is definitely understanding more and more and saying more and more words every day.  She knows all of her colors and is starting to say a few sentences here and there.  She loves to do whatever her big sister is doing and I love to see the two of the playing together.

1. "Excuse Me,".....she has started to say Excuse me when she burps, and whenever Brad burps, she will say "Excuse me, Daddy."

2. Watermelon...this girl cannot get enough watermelon!  she loves it!

3. Ice...she also loves to eat ice.  Whenever I get ice out of the icemaker, she comes running because she knows that I usually spill some all over the floor.

4. "I got it!"....this phrase is her first complete sentence.  She was playing with stickers one day, and everytime she got one of the stickers off the page, she would say "I got it!"  She was so proud of herself.

5. Sesame Street mat...we finally got out the Sesame Street mat for Alison since she is sitting at the table with us now.  she loves to look at the mat and point out all the Sesame Street characters.

6. Make-up...Alison loves to play with make-up, too.  She is ok with the pretend stuff, but she also likes to use Lauren's real make-up.  We just have to be careful because she likes to paint her toes with the lipstick!

7. Juice...she is a juice monster!  Every morning, she wants a sip of my juice no matter what kind of juice it is.  She seems to like OJ the best.

8. Mickey & Minnie...Lauren has a mickey and minnie stuffed doll that Alison has adopted as her own.  She loves Minnie the best though.  She watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse sometimes, and when she sees Mickey, she says "Oh Toodles!"  So funny!

9. Rocking....she LOVES to sit in the rocking chair in her room and rock, and rocking with Lauren is her favorite.

10. "Bless you"...now whenever she hears someone sneeze, she says "Bless you."

11. Coloring...she loves to color with crayons.  I just have to watch her because sometimes she pretends it's lipstick and it gets all over her face.  Silly girl!

12. The baby...she's pretty funny because she sometimes looks at her own tummy when I ask her where the baby is.  And whenever she kisses the baby, she kisses my belly button.

13. Putting stickers on her face
