Summer is in full swing around here, although Lauren hasn't even been out of school for a month yet!
We have been keeping busy, especially with swim team. Lauren has competed in three events so far, and has improved immensely from the first to the third. Practice has been a little more challenging, as she doesn't really like to be in the water when it is cold, but she is coming around! Alison even told us she wanted to swim in the meet this past week, but she said she didn't want to do it again because it was "too tiring!" We were so proud of her because she swam the whole length of the pool and she didn't touch the side or anything!!! The girls have both become so much more confident in the pool this summer, even going off the diving board. Drew likes the pool ok, but not as much as his sisters!
Last week, we went on vacation to Fairfield Glade with my mom, David and Blair. We had a GREAT time, going to the pool, playing games, going for hikes and watching movies. The pool there was great because the swallow part was 2 feet, so Alison could touch. We were able to work with both girls on their strokes and David had a great time throwing the girls in the water. One day, we went to this play place called Chuckles that was like Chuckie Cheese's but they also had mini golf, go karts and batting cages. The kids had a great time playing the games and we earned over 600 tickets so they each got a few little trinkets (Alison got mostly candy, no surprise!). We attempted to play mini golf, but it was super hot and very hard with three adults and three kids. Alison was definitely the most interested in playing of the three, but we gave up after about 4 holes.
On the last day we were there (and Brad, David and Blair had already left!), we discovered a beach on a lake and it was perfect for the kids! They played in the sand, and then they got in the water because it was even warmer than the pool. The girls were swimming and jumping off the rocks almost the whole time, and Drew figured out how to "fly" by putting his hands down and floating his feet in the water.
